TXT è internamente suddivisa in 3 business unit, che sono: 1) Aerospace&HighTech, 2) Automotive e  3) Fintech all’interno delle quali cerchiamo differenti ruoli professionali.

  1. Nella Business Unit Aerospace&HighTech ricerchiamo maggiormente:

Crash me safely!

A system to improve the safety of drones

 

Contents:

1.The context | The future drone market growth

  • Drone market is growing at an incredibly fast rate.
  • The number of drones over our heads is getting bigger.
  • The number of incidents involving drones is growing and may become an issue in a few years.
  • The authority (both ENAC and EASA) has defined new regulations.

2.The idea | Green zone -Red zone

  • When you have no possibility to save the drone, you’re beyond the scenario of the drone safety:

»Small range of flight operations.

»Extremely reduced capability of control.

»Limited communication with the drone.

»Short time for decisions.

  • The scenario is the one involving the safety of the environment in which the drone is operating.
  • We want to identify areas of human activities where the crash shall be avoided (RED ZONE).
  • We want to identify areas of low risk (GREEN ZONE) where the crash should be with no safety impact.
  • The drone control system will use these data, using the limited control capacity to avoid the former and trying to aim the latter.

3.How? | The solution could be tricky

  • The environment in which the drone operates could be:

»Crowded,

»Fastly evolving,

»Without a “close” solution.

  • The computation capacity on-board could be limited.
  • The number of possible scenario is almost infinite.
  • The requirement is difficult to be enunciated but a series of characteristic and properties could be defined.
  • This seems to “suggest”artificial intelligence as a possible way to solve the problem.

4.The contest | Be involved, propose a solution, contribute with ideas

  • The problem is to define the red zones and the green zones identifying them in one aerial view (from 30ft to 200ft under different angles).
  • The problem is still open in many requirement, because there is no real definition of what is a zone of human activity: the capacity of the solution to provide also a possible definition will be appreciated.
  • The contest result will be evaluated in a static scenario but will be considered the capacity of the proposed solution to identify the same zone in a series of photos (e.g. a set of photos of the same place from different altitude and angle).
  • The participant will need to:

»Define the technological stack to create the solution

»Elaborate a solution working on a PC

»Provide with a training set wide enough

»Verify the solution is working

5.The schedule | How to proceed

→ Oct 5th2020,

kick off meeting

Each 3 weeks Orientation meeting with TXT tutors (this will allow project to remain in scope and be correctly managed)

→ Jan 18th2021,

1stverification set (a first set of image to perform some test)

→ Mar 19th2021,

final delivery

→ Mar 31st2021,

winning award and best solutions presentation
